Bahamas open after Hurricane Irma

Nuptial Beach Nassau Bahamas

Bahamas Destination Wedding has resumed normal business hours as of 8:30 AM this morning and The Bahamas is fully open for business, with most Bahamians back at work today including our staff.

While Hurricane Irma moved through the Bahamas over the past weekend, because of its change in direction the majority of The Bahamas only received tropical storm conditions, resulting in no structural damage to the country’s main island of New Providence with telecommunications and internet communications remaining fully intact and functioning.

However, Grand Bahamas, Bimini and Andros were impacted by Tropical Storm winds and Tornadoes resulting in widespread damage. With the Islands of Ragged Island, Acklins and Crooked Island brearing the brunt of Hurricane Irma’s impact.

We are grateful to all of our clients that have reached out to us with well wishes, and while we might have been fortunate, our neighbours in the Caribbean Islands of St Maarten, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Florida were not as fortunate as they were all impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they recover from this devastation.
